15 Women Making A Noise For International Women’s Day

Today is International Womens Day, lets face it us women are rad, and there aren’t enough females in bands right? Wrong! This post will be a celebration of our scene and the bands you need to hear right now! Some of which I’m only discovering today after some brilliant recommendations from you guys. (Pre warning; there will be no mention of Paramore except that one in this post…)

Petrol Girls

A brilliant way to start this list off, because of the political nature of their music. They tackle issues that are hard to talk about, with great compassion and you can feel that in each song.

Having been announced they’ll be playing Reading & Leeds again this year. I had the pleasure of seeing them back in 2015. Becca is a force to be reckoned with! This year they are back and are bringing out a new album! Can’t wait! For me they have everything I want from a band, angst, killer guitars and can tear the crap out of a festival!

Candy Hearts have been making waves over the past few years, touring with New Found Glory and The Story So Far. The band was formed by singer Mariel Loveland treads the vocal line somewhere between Avril Lavigne and Kay Hanley from Letters To Cleo, but proves that amongst all the boisterous bravado and angry boys, there’s still room for some perfectly crafted power pop
