It was announced today that big changes have been made to one of the biggest alternative festivals in England.
For the past few years, Slam Dunk Festival had worked over three sites in Leeds, Birmingham and Hatfield, and it’s now been decided that the Midlands date has been removed entirely to bolster a location change for Leeds.
Moving out of the city centre, Slam Dunk Leeds will now be moved to a field site in Temple Newsam, around a 15 minute drive away from the original location. In a statement issued by Slam Dunk, the decision was made in part to a large amount of complaints with the city centre location and the success of the Hatfield date being moved to a field last year.
Unfortunately, this change means that the midlands date in Birmingham has been sacrificed in order to adapt to these changes and Slam Dunk 2019 will now be a two date festival rather than three. No announcement has been made regarding which bands will play next year, the full statement can be found below.
